The Hydroponics greenhouse is in Princess Anne, MD (about 14 miles south of Salisbury, MD and 12 miles north
of Pocomoke, MD). All these towns are located on Rt. 13 that travels North-South on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Coming from the South: From the Norfolk tunnel, travel north into
Maryland. After passing Pocomoke, you watch for exit for the business
route through Princess Anne. After turning right off Rt. 13, travel
though town (1 mile) to the Shore Stop/Texaco station across the
street from the Fire Station and turn right again to entrance of the campus.
Coming from the North: From the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (Rt. 50) from
Annapolis, travel on Rt. 50 until it intersects Rt. 13 in Salisbury,
MD. Take Rt. 13 South until you see the exit to Princess Anne (Univ.
of Maryland Eastern Shore). Exit to your left, travel into town and
turn left at the first stop light (at the Shore Stop/Texaco station)
into the entrance of the campus.
From the entrance of the campus: Cross the railroad tracks to the
entrance of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. At the stop, the road
comes to a "T", turn left. Make your first right into the parking lot. Bear to your right and
proceed to the end of the parking area until you see 'Visitor Parking'. You
will be right in front of the Richard A. Henson Center. Request a Visitor's
Parking Permit from the hotel desk staff located in the lobby and place it
on you mirror immediately. My office is on the second floor, Room 2127. My Office phone number
is (410) 651-7974.
Directions to the Hydroponic Greenhouse Facility:
From the entrance of the campus: Cross the railroad tracks to the
entrance of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. At the stop, the road
comes to a "T", turn left. Follow this by-pass road around the perimeter of
the campus until it comes to another stop sign at a "T". Make another left
turn and travel for about one city block to the second paved road on the
left. Turn left on this access road and drive to the entrance of the
Greenhouse Parking lot about 100 yards from the turn and turn right into the
parking lot. The greenhouse is clearly visible on your right side. The
main office is located on the North Side of the Headhouse. Visitors will
require reservations at this time from Dr. Handwerker.
